What To Do In The Event Of An Emergency

Refer to the Civil Defence page (inside cover) in your Yellow pages phone book. If you need to report an emergency or need assistance always call 111 in the first instance. If the phone/cell phone systems are down please go to your sector post and use the radio telephone there.

Please only go to your sector post if you are unable to stay in your own home or need to get a radio message sent for emergency help only.

Please bring survival kit contents with you if possible as it may take a few days for basic supplies to arrive at your sector post.

Look after your immediate family first then see if your neighbours need help. Are there vulnerable people (blind, deaf, disabled, elderly, solo parent families) nearby? Are they in need of help?

Listen to the radio to find out what is happening. In Mackenzie listen to Port FM (93.7 ) or Classic Hits (98.6). If you don't have battery powered radio remember most vehicles have radios.

For all other enquiries during an emergency contact Civil Defence on:
