In late December, the Council started the removal of 50ha of mature wilding Contorta and Corsican Pine. The removal of this block removes highly flammable material on the boundary of the Pukaki Airport and Twizel township.
Additionally, these wildings have been dispersing seed across the remaining 280ha of land in this block. Their removal eliminates this seed source and will allow us to remove the remaining seedlings across this Reserve.
