Submissions welcomed for the Heritage Protection Fund
Council are currently taking submissions for the Heritage Protection Fund. This fund is available to assist and actively encourage property owners and members of the Mackenzie community to manage, maintain, preserve and enhance the heritage values of items or areas.

Our two unfortunate water outages in Twizel have had people asking us if this is something they can expect more of. We really hope not, but this is an attempt to explain what’s going on.
Peace Tree Avenue Maintenance
Council contractors will shortly be starting on a program of maintenance work on the avenue of Peace Trees.
Changes to wheelie bin collections following Ministry for the Environment decision.
The Ministry for the Environment has made changes to what councils throughout the country are allowed to collect in their wheelie bins. This will mean some changes for Mackenzie District residents.

Water Restrictions – Fairlie
Stage 2 water restrictions now apply for everyone on the Fairlie town supply (including Kimbell).
Smart Meters Project - Twizel
Council contractors will soon start installing smart water meters at every property in Twizel, including businesses. Where a property already has a water meter it will be replaced with one of the new ones.

This is going to be a long hot Summer and as El Nino takes effect rainfall is going to reduce.
Reserve 4038 - Contract Let
Council contractors will be starting work on Tuesday 19 December to remove 50ha of wilding conifers (contorta and Corsican pine) on council land next to the Pukaki Airport.
