The Responsible Dog Owner Status is a special dog ownership status that recognizes good, responsible dog owners and entitles them to a reduced annual dog registration fee.
In order to hold Responsible Dog Owner Status, you must comply with the requirements of the Dog Control Act 1996 and the Mackenzie District Council Dog Control Policy and Dog Control Bylaw 2021.
(Required)
Your date of birth is required to enable you to be distinguished from other persons with the same name. Certainty of identification is required in the enforcement of the provisions of the Dog Control Act 1996.
A Dog Control Officer as part of any application for Responsible Dog Owner Status may carry out a property inspection to ensure compliance with Responsible Dog Ownership Criteria. An application for Responsible Dog Owner Status may be granted or be refused, at the discretion of the attending Dog Control Officer.
Any breach of the Responsible Dog Owner Status criteria will lead to the immediate withdrawal of the Responsible Dog Owner Status. Should Responsible Dog Owner Status be withdrawn the owner may not apply for, or be considered for, the status again until two years after the date of withdrawal.
