Unplanned Closures

Braemar Road, Tekapo - Thursday 24 July 2025 until further notice - vehicles over 3500kg

Braemar Road, Tekapo is closed to heavy vehicles over 3500kg, due to frosts.

Affected areas will need to dry before repairs are able to be made - if heavy vehicles continue to use the road, and the surface deteriorates the road may need to be closed to all traffic.

Council will phone call residents of Braemar Road to advise.

Godley Peaks Road, Lake Alexandrina Road South, Domain Road, Tekapo - Saturday 13 September 2025

Godley Peaks Road, Lake Alexandrina Road South and Domain Road, Tekapo will be closed for the Race Tekapo event.
The closure will take place on Saturday 13 September between 5:30am and 5:00pm.

Perry Road, Ashwick Flat, Fairlie - Wednesday 17 September

Perry Road will be closed on Wednesday 17 September from 10:00am to 2:00pm, for roadside tree felling work.

There will be limited access for residents only.

Mackenzie Drive, Twizel (Numbers 17 to 30, between Simons Street and Mackenzie Drive intersection) - Wednesday 24 September to Friday 17 October

Mackenzie Drive (Numbers 17 to 30, between Simons Street and Mackenzie Drive intersection), Twizel will be closed from Wednesday 24 September to Friday 17 October between 7:00am and 6:00pm for Alpine Energy electricity network upgrades.

There will be limited access for residents only.

There will be closures of the road shoulder areas only in evenings.
