Request for the names of elected members, number of cars, and residence of staff
1) A list of all the names of the Mayor, Councilors, Ceo, Community Board Members including the wages of them.
These can be found on the Mackenzie District Council website under Council. There are three pages where names and contact information are available:

The wages for the elected members is set by the remuneration authority and the details of this is available from the Local Government Elected Members (2025/26) Determination 2025 -

2) How many cars do the Council own

The Council has 22 vehicles, including 5 vehicles that had to be purchased from Whitestone Ltd when they ceased operations in the Mackenzie District, and the Council decided to bring the water operations staff and vehicles into the Council.
3) How many Council employees live outside the district.

As at 30th June 2025 the Mackenzie District Council had 40 employees (65% of employees) living within the Mackenzie district and 56 employees (91% of employees) living within South Canterbury. A lack of suitable and affordable housing within the district does have a significant impact on employees being able to live closer to where they work and their family / partner.
