Waitaha Canterbury Biodiversity Information Gap Analysis.

Request:

On behalf of Environment Canterbury, WSP is undertaking a stocktake and gap analysis of indigenous biodiversity data and information across the Canterbury region.

You and the Mackenzie District Council have been identified as valuable contributors to this process, given your experience in the Canterbury environmental sector.

This is an opportunity to help inform how Environment Canterbury prioritises biodiversity investment to support the delivery of the Canterbury Biodiversity Strategy. Your input is important, because your expertise includes knowledge of reliable and usable data, potentially including datasets that are not readily accessible through traditional search methods.

Please respond to this email or call 027 303 9148 by Tuesday the 16th of June to share any relevant information or datasets relating to indigenous biodiversity in Canterbury. The information provided will be assessed against a set of criteria to support identification of key data and information gaps. Its intended purpose is for internal use at Environment Canterbury.

Response:

We have undertaken a search of our information systems and can confirm that the information that Mackenzie District Council holds on indigenous biodiversity is held in the public domain, being the information presented in the Mackenzie District Plan – Planning Maps and Schedules/ Appendices. Appendix I – Sites of Natural Significance (SONs) which details the sources that were used to compile the scheduled SONs.
