995 Abandoned, Rating-Sale and Surplus Rural Land in Mackenzie District

Requested information about abandoned, rating-sale and surplus rural land.

I am researching inland, elevated rural land in Mackenzie District for a long-term self-sufficient residential and land-use project, with particular interest in Fairlie, Kimbell, Ashwick Flat and surrounding foothill areas.

Under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, please provide, preferably in spreadsheet form where available:

Question

Response

1. A list of land currently regarded by Council as abandoned land, or being considered for action under sections 77–83 of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002, including legal description, approximate location, land area, zoning and current status.

There is no current abandoned land, nor are there any current applications being processed for abandoned land.

2. Any land currently subject to, or being considered for, a rating sale or lease because of unpaid rates.

There are no current properties being considered for a rating sale or lease.

3. Any Council-owned land currently identified as surplus, potentially surplus, or under consideration for disposal, sale, lease or private treaty.

There is a property at 21 Allan Street , within the Lake Tekapo township which has been declared surplus by the Council. Its use is being considered.

4. For any such parcels, whether Council records indicate constraints relevant to residential or rural use, including legal access, known natural-hazard overlays, significant planning constraints, or lack of formed road access.

The Allan St property is in a residential zone – any potential use/development needs to be assessed against the District Plan.

5. If readily available, please identify parcels on elevated inland terrain rather than low-lying river-floodplain land.

The above property is in the Tekapo township.

I am not seeking personal information about ratepayers or former owners. Legal description, location, area, zoning and disposal status are sufficient.
