Current Water Restrictions
There are no water restrictions currently in force in the Mackenzie DIstrict.
Stage 2 water restrictions for Fairlie and Twizel have been lifted, effective Monday 22 April 2024.
We thank everyone who responded to the water restrictions, reducing household and business water use while restrictions were in effect.
This ensured that the water supplies stayed at a sustainable level over the summer and early autumn months.
Water off notices
Unplanned water outage - Mackenzie Drive , Twizel - Thursday 2 May 2024
UPDATE 1:30PM
The water has been turned back on for Four Square and adjacent Twizel Events Centre, and residents and businesses on Mackenzie Drive between Jollie Road and Ruataniwha Road / Market Place.
UPDATE 10:45AM
The water main strike has been isolated, and normal water pressure has been returned to affected properties except the Four Square and adjacent Twizel Events Centre, and properties on Mackenzie Drive between Jollie Road and Ruataniwha Road.
We currently expect full service to be resumed by 3:00pm. Should that situation change we will issue an immediate update.
Update 10:07AM
Unfortunately our contractor working on the water pipe replacement has hit the water main.
This means water is off for residents and business in:
- Mackenzie Drive - Between Jollie Road and Ruataniwha Road / Market Place
We are working as fast as possible to limit the spread of this outage and to fix the problem.
We will issue updates on this page and on our website as soon as we get further information.
Mackenzie Drive and Tekapo Drive, Twizel - Thursday 2 May 2024
The water main supplying the Twizel addresses below will be turned off on Thursday 2 May between 9:00am to 4:00pm to allow contractors to work on the water mains.
- Mackenzie Drive (area of Tekapo Drive)
- Tekapo Drive
The water will be turned off/on periodically over a 7 hour period.
We apologise for any inconvenience while this work is completed.
Mackenzie Drive, Glen Lyon Road, Twizel Airport, Twizel - Friday 3 May 2024
The water main supplying the Twizel addresses below will be turned off on Friday 3 May 2024 between 9:00am to 4:00pm to allow contractors to work on the water mains.
- Mackenzie Drive (area of Nuns Veil Road)
- Glen Lyon Road (area of Nuns Veil Road)
- Twizel Airport
The water will be turned off/on periodically over a 7 hour period.
