Mackenzie District Council Further Notice of Election and Declaration of Elected Candidates

Nominations have closed for the 2025 triennial local authority elections.

Listed below are details of the confirmed candidates for Mackenzie District Council. Click on a name to read the candidate's profile.

Where elections are required, they will be conducted by postal voting using the First Past the Post electoral system.  Voting will open on Tuesday 9 September 2025 and will close at 12 noon on Saturday 11 October 2025.

Mayoralty (1 Vacancy)

Pukaki Ward (3 Vacancies)

Opuha Ward (3 Vacancies)

Tekapo Ward (1 Vacancy)

Fairlie Community Board (4 Vacancies)


The following nominations were also received where the number of nominations did not exceed the available vacancies.

Twizel Community Board (4 Vacancies)

As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Tony HODGES, Mary MURDOCH and Katrina TE RITO are elected unopposed. A by-election to fill the remaining vacancy will be held after the triennial elections have been finalised.

Tekapo Community Board (4 Vacancies)

As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Barbara NUSTRINI, Anna ROSEINGRAVE, Brent SWANSON and Simon TOCKER are elected unopposed.


Enrolment and Special Voting Arrangements

Mackenzie District Council residential electors who are not listed on the final electoral roll for these elections can enrol up to 5pm on Friday 10 October 2025 by calling 0800 36 76 56, visiting the Electoral Commission website www.vote.nz, by texting your name and address to 3676 to get a form sent to you or by email request to enquiries@elections.govt.nz.

Mackenzie District Council ratepayers who are not listed on the final electoral roll for these elections can obtain an enrolment form from the Mackenzie District Council Office, 53 Main Street, Fairlie and enrol up to 5pm on Friday 10 October 2025.  Online applications for ratepayer elector registration can also be made at www.electionz.com/ratepayer.

Special voting documents will be available during normal office hours from Tuesday 9 September to Friday 10 October and between 9am and 12 noon, Saturday 11 October 2025 from the Mackenzie District Council Office, 53 Main Street, Fairlie.
