Riddle Street One Way - Fairlie
Overview:
Part of Riddle Street is already one-way. During the 2026/27 year we will be converting the rest of Riddle Street to a one-way system. Vehicles will enter from State Highway 8 (Main Street), as they do already, and they will either turn left to exit via State Highway 79 or turn right to exit via Talbot Road.
Why:
Making Riddle Street one-way will simplify vehicle movements, improve traffic flow and reducing potential conflict points. It will create a safer environment for motorists and pedestrians. It also provides greater flexibility for future improvements and better use of available road space.
Relocation of Bus Parking - Fairlie
Overview:
The designated bus parking area in Talbot Street will be moved to a new location on State Highway 8 near where the old toilet block was removed.
Why:
The bus parking area on Talbot Road has become underutilised and no longer meets the needs of visitors or operators, since the toilets have moved. Relocating the bus parking closer to the public toilets provides a more convenient facility for tour buses while freeing up valuable parking space on Talbot Road.
Additional Carparking - Fairlie
Overview:
The former bus parking area on Talbot Road will be redeveloped to provide additional public car parking.
Why:
With the bus parking relocated, this space can be repurposed to increase the number of available public car parks available closer to local shops and the playground. Additional parking will improve access while making more efficient use of existing road reserve.
