At the first meeting of the 2026 year, the elected members made a number of key decisions.
Resource Management & Legislation:
Councillors accepted the draft submission to be submitted from MDC on the Planning Bill and the Natural Environment Bill. They agreed to provide any detailed feedback to the Chief Executive by 5pm on February 11th. They delegated to the Chief Executive the final approval of the submission following any changes from Councillor feedback.
Water Services:
Councillors directed staff to develop a water services policy and to review and update the Water supply, Wastewater and Stormwater Bylaw.
Council sponsorship
Councillors approved $500 sponsorship for South Island Rowing Incorporated for the 2026 Mardi Regatta.
