The primary purpose of the Plan Change and of the Variation is to control and manage growth and development at Twizel primarily through rezoning of specific areas of land in and adjacent to the Twizel township and by changes to objectives, policies, rules, methods and maps in the District Plan. The rezonings, and Variation 1, do not affect Rural zonings at large but relate to Twizel only. It further includes district wide changes relating to small diameter pressure sewage systems, storage and re-use of stormwater, and extending the outdoor lighting restriction area.

Decision released

As its meeting on 27 September 2011, the Planning Committee of the Mackenzie District Council resolved to approve Plan Change 15 to the Mackenzie District Plan following the completion of the statutory processes. Plan Change 15 will become operative on Monday 17th October 2011.
